Join C. Michael Patton, Sam Storm, and Tim Kimberley as they continue to discuss the issue of theological arrogance.
MESSAGE SUMMARY: Often it is the case that the more you understand and know, the more you fall on your face before God. Well, this is ideal. However, knowledge “puffs up.” Sometimes we just become more arrogent. Sometimes our zeal shapes our personality to a point where we are the last people that others want to be around, much less be like. Theology is a wonderful thing. Belief is a wonderful thing. Conviction is a wonderful thing. But when out beliefs cause us to well up with pride, our witness can be counterproductive to the Gospel.

Wow Amazing great show!
Such an important topic, because discernment is so badly needed but is often so bad that you dont want anybody to think of you as a discerner!
And my first number one comment!
Timely topic! Thank you!
Michael Sam and Tim,
There is tendency for the flesh to protrude itself, in such a way that it becomes self conceited, at that we longer see the efficacy of the Cross of Christ. the Greek word phusuoo denotes ‘Inflate.’ The idea to swell up in size. We are not to be disposed above what is written, that none may be puffed up in behalf of the one, against the other. 1Cor4:6.
There is self gratification seen in individuals that claim knowledge, that they deem superior to others again this is an action of self and this is not in accord with the spirit of God.
the believer must guard against any feelings of superiority as this is spirit of the adversary. This spirit is that of the world and not of Christ.
I believe that prayer and constant guard against any sprit that would make you feel that you are better.
I think that we ought to follow the promoting of the spirit. For its leading and divine direction.
Credo et intelligum
[…] I strongly recommend listening to Michael Patton touching on this in his post ‘Im not judgemntal, I’m discerning’ […]
